Previewing the dress on her Instagram, Williams introduced the Twist Front Dress, which she has designed for ‘everybody and every body’.
Modelled by women of all different shapes and sizes for the campaign, the dress has a v-neck line and is twisted at the waist in the style of a classic wrap dress with a midi skirt length.
‘No one in the world looks exactly the same, we all are different people with different personalities and traits.’ Williams says in the video. ‘What better way to showcase it [the dress] than on every body type?’
One of the women in the video credited Williams with ‘taking something and making it work for different sizes’ while another said the red dress ‘means everyone feel like they’re embraced’.
Williams is an avid supporter of body positivity and combatting exclusion and shaming when it comes to appearances, having previously opened up about her own insecurities she’s faced when it comes to her body throughout the years.
The dress, described as ‘endlessly elegant’ and one which will be ‘one of the most comfortable in your collection’, is available in sizes XS – 3X costing $120 (S$165).
Williams – who previously studied fashion – debuted her clothing line, Serena, in May 2018. She’s previously said the line centres around ‘practicality’ and the items range from activewear to blazers. Shortly after presenting the collection, she expanded the line’s size range.
The tennis great’s close friend Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, chose to wear a grey checked oversize blazer from the Serena collection during her Autumn royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga with Prince Harry in October.
